focusing on broader issues and after a rigorous voting process, was
offered for national distribution through American Public Television. It

it serves. It does this by addressing social issues and public concerns
that are not otherwise adequately covered.

Hispanics totaled 833,702 people, according to official updates of the
2000 Census. In Denver, Hispanics make up 34.8% of total population.

population totals nearly 40 million people.
How did “Latin View” begin?
-
•KBDI’s board of
directors saw a need for a high-quality, Latino-oriented program and
formed a committee to develop the project. KBDI staff and board members
Tom Maes, Polly Baca and Elizabeth Suarez were instrumental in
developing a pilot program that aired in October 2000. Viewer response
was extremely positive and KBDI launched Latin View as a weekly
program in September 2001.
-
•Hispanic business
leaders such as Salvador Gomez, Jerry Natividad, Linda Alvarado and
Federico Pena provided financial support to launch Latin View and
corporate and foundation support are welcome.
